What does Fortis Counselling offer?

Person-centred approach

Person-centred counselling is the holistic, supportive, client-led approach taken by Fortis Counselling.

We believe that healthy collaboration between client and therapist, in a safe, non-judgemental environment is key to a successful therapeutic experience.

Giving advice and 'fixing' issues is not part of our service. Instead, each session is led by you. You will be supported throughout your therapeutic journey and will feel able and empowered to take ownership of your life and make decisions based on what is best for your unique circumstances.

This approach to counselling offers you the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences while enhancing independence, self-worth, confidence, and self-awareness.

Session Information

Sessions are 50 minutes long and will take place either online, over the phone, or in person.

Our initial meeting will be a free introductory session lasting between 20 and 30 minutes. This allows us to discuss any previous experiences of counselling, goals for therapy, and expectations of counselling.

The first session will be 50 minutes long and will allow us the chance to set boundaries, answer any questions you may have, and discuss our therapeutic contract. We will complete a questionnaire together which is useful in highlighting areas for consideration.

All further sessions will be 50 minutes long and be client-led.

Sessions can take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly; However, it would be beneficial to consider weekly sessions to start with.

Online Counselling

Online counselling is ideal for those unable to travel or people with busy schedules. Being in a calm, quiet space at home often allows a more relaxed feeling going into sessions, so people who experience anxiety and panic attacks may also prefer this way of meeting.

Sessions can take place over Microsoft Teams, Skype, or Zoom. A good, steady internet connection is required for these sessions.

Telephone Counselling

Telephone counselling can often be a great, flexible, and more accessible option for therapy, offering a level of anonymity that other delivery methods don't. It requires a greater level of communication between therapist and client due to the lack of visuals of body language and facial expressions.

Sessions will take place over the phone and will, therefore, require a good network connection.

Counselling in Nature

Our face-to-face sessions take place in beautiful nature spots throughout Glasgow and the surrounding areas. These sessions allow us to feel more present, calm, and open, whiole also strengthening our therapeutic alliance.

If you would like to know if your area is covered, please get in touch and we can discuss possible locations.

We can also offer sessions indoors. These can be arranged in block bookings and may incur additional charges. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.
